From ‘Masters of Storytelling’ Wright&Grainger, HELIOS is the award-winning follow up to the internationally-acclaimed ORPHEUS, EURYDICE, and THE GODS THE GODS THE GODS. A lad lives half way up a historic hill. A teenager is on a road trip to the city in a stolen car. A boy is driving a chariot, pulling the sun across the sky. A story about the son of the god of the sun, HELIOS transplants the Ancient Greek tale into a modern-day myth wound round the winding roads of rural England and into the everyday living of a towering city. It’s a story about life, the invisible monuments we build to it, and the little things that leave big marks. Join them in a little room with a tape player-and delicate tale to tell. ‘Quiet Intimacy & Boyhood Wonder’ THE GUARDIAN Thursday 21st March 2024 Performances at 6pm and 9pm Culture Pass 2for1 Unlimited Pass FREE

Escape the everyday and climb the summit; with a voice to guide, inspire, and help you on your way.
An immersive audio experience created by Ventnor Escape the everyday and climb the summit; with a voice to guide, inspire, and help you on your way. An immersive audio experience created by Ventnor Exchange & Glastonbury Poetry Slam Champion Toby Thompson, as part of the ‘Bays in the Biosphere’ project which aims to explore new ways for audiences to engage with the natural world. Toby has previously written commissions for the RSC, Royal Geographical Society and National Portrait Gallery. Collaborating with musician Harry Christelis, they have together created a soundscape to transform an ordinary walk into a unique and personal experience. This experience starts at the bench at the top of Grove Road and takes you to the top of St Boniface Down, the highest point on the Island. If you need more help, head to Ventnor Exchange where our team can talk you through the technology. Practical Information Audiences can take part in this experience at any time. It’s free, with no need to book and can be done as a group or (as we’d recommend) as an experience on your own. You will need a smart phone and your own headphones. To take part you just need to download the ECHOES app, sometimes also listed as ECHOES interactive sound walks. Once downloaded on the homepage in the ‘Near You’ section you should see ‘Inwards & Upwards (St Boniface Down)’ as the first event listed. As signal in Ventnor can be patchy and to ensure a smoother experience, we recommend downloading the walk before you start. You can do this by clicking the blue arrow pointing downwards next to the button displaying ‘Steam Walk’ which will then be replaced with a ‘Start’ button. Make sure you allow the app to know your phones location as it will use GPS to work. The experience is led at your own pace but will take approx 60mins, and we estimate around 30 mins more to return to the starting point. There are no obstacles to climb but the walk is quite steep, climbing to the summit of a hill so we would suggest wearing comfortable shoes and clothing. We’d love to hear your feedback about this experience, let us know: hello@ventnorexchange.co.uk or there are paper feedback forms in Ventnor Exchange

As we begin to imagine how we Join us this Spring at our brand new space Ingrams Yard for a unique outdoor experience… As we begin to imagine how we can transform our new building into something the whole community can benefit from, what better time to start looking to the future? After a challenging period for many, The People’s Palace of Possibility is an outdoor installation which asks how we find energy for change, despite our fear and anger about the future. It is rooted in utopias. The mystery of the utopias which have gone before, become misplaced, or gone wrong. And in the impulse for escape; for doing something radically different from life as we know it. The Palace is nomadic and always growing. Right now it has a radio station, a kitchen, a pantry, and an escape hatch. The Palace is added to and animated by people wherever it goes. So far it has been to London, Rotherham, the Scottish Highlands and now the Isle of Wight. We’re busy working on the wide range of activities it will host but to date this has included everything from a disobedient choir and utopian illustrations to films, feasts and ceilidhs. The palace will be situ for 3 weeks with a full programme tbc Created by The Bare Project
