Ventnor Exchange aims to foster and develop a unique creative community and economy on the Isle of Wight.
Throughout the year we present a diverse and exciting programme of new work, nurture emerging talent and host award winning festivals.
In 2014 we opened our home on Church Street, Ventnor in the town’s former Post Office, providing a creative space in the centre of the town open to all.
Now housing a theatre, record store and craft beer bar it’s the best place on the Island to catch new work, as well as the perfect place to browse vinyl, meet friends and relax with like minded people.
As well as hosting visiting shows the Ventnor Exchange commissions new work to tour to other venues and events and runs an extensive programme of opportunities for young people.
We also produce a number of festivals including the Isle of Wight Children’s Festival, held each April in Newport and the multi award winning Ventnor Fringe, held at the end of July.
We are strong believers in collaborative working and the Ventnor Exchange is an active member of a number of networks including The Island Collection, IW Cultural Education Partnership, British Arts Festivals Association, Venues South West, House and Paines Plough’s Small Touring Network.

Ventnor Exchange is host to the Island’s most extensive craft beer bar, with over 60 beers to choose from at any one time, including both traditional Belgian and German specialities and the latest brews from the American and British scene. We have vegan, gluten free and alcohol free beers.
We also have a wide range of unusual spirits, interesting soft drinks, wine list and real coffee.
Our bar space also combines as a record store, with an ever evolving collection, including both second hand and the latest releases from all of our favourite labels. We are the Isle of Wight’s only official Record Store Day retailer and we also supply a range of turntables, record cases, magazine and other accessorises.

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2019 the Ventnor Fringe is a week long festival which sees the Island’s southernmost town totally transformed into a whole world of pop up venues and bars in every conceivable space, hosting over 100 different shows.
From outdoor cinema, the best new comedians and gigs in the harbour to the truly barmy events like improvised hip hop in a Laundrette or a 1930’s Parisian ‘Book Bus’ the Fringe has something for everyone! Best of all you can pick and choose which ticketed events to see or simply explore the many free events on offer.
Ventnor Fringe returns
23rd – 28th July 2019
VIF is the Isle of Wight’s unique take on the metropolitan/city based music festival. Featuring a carefully curated line up of the most exciting emerging artists from across the UK and beyond, it’s a place to discover the next big thing. A single ticket provides access to a whole range of interesting venues, from warehouses to churches, spanning rock, garage, electronic, hip hop and jazz.
VIF was piloted as a one day festival in 2017. We hope to bring the event back as a winter event in the future.
