Information about trading at Ingrams Yard Market

What is Ingrams Yard?
Ingrams Yard is an exciting new creative and community space being developed by Ventnor Exchange. We hope to restore the building to host a mix of studios, workshops and rehearsal space.

To the rear of the building is an outdoor yard which we plan to open to the community every weekend as a new public space hosting markets and events.

When is the market?
Following two successful pilots in April, we will be launching weekly every Saturday during the summer from 1st June 2024.

Who can apply for a stall?

We are looking for traders who fit the following criteria:

> Make their own products and are skilful craftspeople, designers or food and drink producers as well as those who carefully curate a range of products.

> Are ethical, sustainable and consider the environment and animal welfare

> Use recyclable, biodegradable or recycled packaging, including cutlery and food containers

> Offer good quality products

> Set out an attractive, eye-catching display with plenty of goods on offer

> Have a strong brand presence, reflected in the trader’s online and offline marketing materials

Unfortunately we do have very limited space and so we’re not able to offer pitches to everyone who applies, even if you do fit the bill. For example, if we had  a homemade candle company already signed up, we might not be able to offer a pitch to another, even if your products are amazing.

What are the set up/pack up timings?
Traders can arrive to set up from 8.30am. Vehicles can drive on site to unload but must be off site by 9.30am to start trading at 10am. Traders must not pack up or bring vehicles back on site until 4pm. During the summer months we may run optional later opening times.

How do I get to Ingrams Yard?
The building address is 14-20 Albert Street, Ventnor PO38 1EZ. However the yard itself is located to the rear of the property on Dudley Road.

Where can I park?
There are two car parks on Dudley Road a short walk from Ingrams Yard. Both of these will have free parking on Saturdays!

Dudley Road has one way traffic so after unloading you will need to circle back round to reach the nearest car parks.

Do I need to be at the market to manage my stall?
Yes please! You can organise someone else to manage your stall for you but customers really love to meet the maker/producer, and there really is no better substitute.

What do I need to bring?
Your gazebo will be set up when you arrive, we can also supply you with a table. Any other display equipment such as rails/racks etc will be over to you to bring. And of course don’t forget to bring your card reader and phone…fully charged!

What about electricity?
If you requested electricity in advance it will be provided. Any electrical items must have a valid PAT test certificate and have been identified by you on the upon application. Electricity can only be supplied for traders with products that require it. It cannot be supplied for charging phones/card readers/laptops etc.

Is there a charge for electricity usage?
Yes, there is a £5 flat fee for electricity.

Is there lighting?
We will provide some lighting in the winter months. If you wish to bring additional battery operated lighting you may.

Is there WiFi?
We plan to offer WIFI in the space but cannot guarantee it will be 100% reliable as it can be quite patchy in Ventnor so we’d recommend that you use your own mobile data as a back up.

Where can I use the toilets?
A toilet for traders will be provided on site. However we do not have any public toilets available yet. There are nearby public facilities in Ventnor High Street.

How much does it cost to trade?
Ingrams Yard Markets will operate on a 15% turnover rent of gross takings. So for example if you were to take £100 on the day, your pitch fee would be £15. It is up to you to declare your takings within 24 hours of the event so we can issue an invoice.

Why is the pitch fee operated on a percentage basis?
This pricing model takes into account the fact that average price points are extremely variable between traders. It provides a low risk, even playing field for stallholders.

Do you have any promotional materials I can use in my social media/newsletter etc?
Yes absolutely! We’re working on these at the moment and we’ll share a marketing pack with you ahead of the event.

What if I can’t make it?
If you are unable to make a market date and do not let us know by 10am on the day before your slot, we may withdraw future slots at our discretion.
