VEX: Spoken Word Collective

A home for spoken word on the Isle of Wight.

VEX will be approaching its writing sessions a little differently.

We understand that joining a new group can be a little intimidating, especially if it’s to do something you’ve never tried before. We want everyone to get the benefit of VEX without the commitment of all the collective activities. We want people to feel welcome when coming into a space already inhabited by a lot of people and ideas.

So, we’re extending our sessions. From 7-7:45pm we will be running some quieter, more chill sessions for new writers and even old ones who want to focus on their craft. These sessions will dispense with housekeeping and the usual chit chat for a simpler “turn up, say hello and write” approach.

In these sessions we will be focusing on the craft of spoken word with the option to join the normal VEX session (VEX Collective Meeting) from 7:45-9:30pm.

For current VEX members, nothing changes bar 15 minutes shaved off the starting time. We do however want to encourage the sessions as a place for relaxed, writing where they can then choose to join the Collective as a whole to enjoy the many accoutrements and projects associated with us.

Under 18’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult
