An exciting opportunity to go backstage at Kings Theatre in Southsea and see the areas that the public don’t normally get to see! Learn from the theatre’s Technical Manager all about how the lights, scenery, and backstage areas work. Visit the fly floor and even get the chance to try hemp rope flying!
You’ll also take part in a workshop, where you’ll get the chance to learn some stagecraft skills such as ‘spiking’ set, practicing scene changes, knots and more. You’ll also find out more about the technical elements like programming lighting and using communications and cue lights.
Kings Theatre opened in 1907 and has been one of the main venues for theatregoers from in and around Portsmouth and Southsea ever since, seating up to 1,400 people for performances, so this is a great place to have a look around backstage and learn how it works!
This opportunity is completely free including both the workshop and travel.
Deadline to apply: Thursday 9th February 2023
