Join us this Spring at our brand new space Ingrams Yard for a unique outdoor experience…
As we begin to imagine how we can transform our new building into something the whole community can benefit from, what better time to start looking to the future?
After a challenging period for many, The People’s Palace of Possibility is an outdoor installation which asks how we find energy for change, despite our fear and anger about the future. It is rooted in utopias. The mystery of the utopias which have gone before, become misplaced, or gone wrong. And in the impulse for escape; for doing something radically different from life as we know it.
The Palace is nomadic and always growing. Right now it has a radio station, a kitchen, a pantry, and an escape hatch. The Palace is added to and animated by people wherever it goes. So far it has been to London, Rotherham, the Scottish Highlands and now the Isle of Wight.
We’re busy working on the wide range of activities it will host but to date this has included everything from a disobedient choir and utopian illustrations to films, feasts and ceilidhs.

What does it mean to be self-sufficient? Is it all or nothing? Can we begin to incorporate more self-sufficiency into our lives? Join us for a thought-provoking Sunday Lunch Sessions where we delve into the concept of self-sufficiency.
To begin, are you curious about Wild Food? Take a one hour foraging walk around Ventnor with instructor Joseph Thurbin and learn about the abundance of edible plants that grow right here on our doorstep. From common weeds to edible trees, you will learn about the historical uses of common plants and how learning to identify them can invigorate our understanding of the wider landscape.
Meet at Ingram’s Yard, the walk will last around 1 hour and will explore the unique botany of both the town and seafront. Bring a notebook, comfortable shoes and plenty of questions.
Joseph Thurbin is a foraging instructor and filmmaker from the Isle of Wight, who through his company Fieldstudy seeks to teach people about the natural landscape through the universal language of delicious food.

Join designer-researchers Lily McCraith and Soul Miles to teach AI a lesson.
Imagine AI as a student, and us as its teachers. But who teaches the teachers? This project explores how we educate both the AI itself and the people who shape it.
Participants will explore how Artificial Intelligence’s are trained by creating a collaborative dataset of hundreds of images of apples. You will chop, dice, juice, scan, draw and squash apples to make this dataset together. A handmade dataset is an unusual, slow and collaborative process there will be time and space for participants to explore ethical insights about how AI is trained.
Lily McCraith is a designer, artist & researcher, making work about technology, people and ecology. She also has a background in computer science, which feeds into her practice.
Soul Miles is a design-researcher, educator and writer. His work revolves around how technologies will produce politics inevitably and accidentally.

Event Details
A new home for spoken word on the Isle of Wight
Ventnor Exchange Poetry Collective is a space for writers and performers who want to create, experiment and develop their craft in a supportive environment, under guidance from established and celebrated poets.
A collaboration with champion of the Island’s poetry scene King Stammers, this is an informal group that meets fortnightly. You don’t need any experience to take part, just an interest in poetry and the spoken word, and an eagerness to explore your creativity with others.
Throughout the year there will also be opportunities to see performances, attend one off masterclasses and perform.
Fortnightly on Thursdays 7.30pm – 9pm, in person at Ventnor Exchange or take part via Google Meets!
To take part please email hello@ventnorexchange.co.uk
