Our Drawing Nights are a social gathering bringing together all of those with a love of drawing, spanning all ages and abilities! During these evenings we welcome guest artist Katy Rose, a professional illustrator who has worked for clients including Isle of Wight Festival, RSPCA, and Heineken as well as being an associate artist of our very own Ventnor Fringe Festival.

Katy will be on hand to set you some fun challenges and help offer advice and feedback on how to improve your technique. Each fortnight we have a new theme which we post in advance on our social media pages.

The bar is open throughout as normal for drinks and refreshments or for those who would like to watch.

Ventnor Exchange Poetry Collective is a space for writers and performers who want to create, experiment and develop their craft in a supportive environment, under guidance from established and celebrated poets.

A collaboration with champion of the Island’s poetry scene King Stammers, this is an informal group that meets fortnightly. You don’t need any experience to take part, just an interest in poetry and the spoken word, and an eagerness to explore your creativity with others.

Throughout the year there will also be opportunities to see performances, attend one off masterclasses and perform.

Join the Island Storytellers for a delightful medley of stories all
connected by the gifts from the song “The Twelve days of Christmas” –
tales about swans, dancers, geese, hens, gold rings and more! Great for
3-103 year olds.

The storytelling is part of Ventnor Community Christmas celebrations
which includes a window spot competition in which people have to find
figures from the song hidden in the windows of local businesses. (entry
forms available from Ventnor Savers)

Free Entry but a donation to Ventnor’s Community Foodbank (food or cash) is welcome !

Ventnor Exchange’s Beer Tasting Nights are back!

On these evenings we carefully pick a selection of beers which showcase a range of styles relevant to the season. We’ll often bring in some very rare or unusual brews especially for the occasion. It’s a great event if you’ve ever found yourself wanting to try beers of the Beer Bible but been too afraid to give them a try!

We’ve got a selection of very special and rare festive beers for you to try, imported especially for the occasion. Booking is available for tables of two, four or six and includes all beers, cheese boards and snacks. We also encourage everyone to rate each beer to find the session champion !

Spaces are extremely limited so don’t miss out!

Have you ever wanted to learn British Sign Language but are not sure where to start?

It’s estimated that over 150,000 people use BSL as their primary or preferred language in the UK, and this number includes both Deaf and hearing people who may have learned to sign as part of their work or to communicate better with the Deaf people in their lives. This 10 week beginners course hosted by tutor Laura Jane Walton covers the basics of BSL grammar, introduction to conversations, fingerspelling and signs for a vairety of topics including greetings, colours, numbers, weather, family, animals, and food.

What will you make? This 2 hour workshop focusses solely on Handrolled Beeswax Candle Making. You will make 5 pairs of beeswax candles (10 in total) of varied seasonal colours.

Two different techniques will be demonstrated, and you will have the opportunity to decorate and finish your creations using natural ribbon and raffia and gorgeous natural dried flowers, sourced from local florists Blossom & Twigs, and/or bee pins. This workshop is a very relaxing and enjoyable activity with friends and family, so come along to try a new craft in a small group.

PLEASE ARRIVE 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE THE SESSION SO THE WORKSHOP STARTS ON TIME FOR EVERYONE
ChilliWinter have £10m Public Liability Insurance, and risk assess all events thoroughly. Your safety and enjoyment is our priority, with all workshops.
Groups are usually up to 8 people. We expect everyone to be friendly and respectful towards us, and one another.
Young Adults aged 8-15 are welcome, if accompanied by a participating adult, who takes full supervisory responsibility.
If you have any special requirements or additional needs, please contact us – we want everyone to enjoy an inclusive and accessible experience.
Refreshments are not provided as part of the ticket but there is a bar/cafe.
Crafting can be messy – we provide you with an apron to wear. Please wear comfortable ‘old’ clothes and shoes; avoid trailing sleeves, scarves, and long hair.
