Drawing Club is going digital this month for Inktober and we want you to get involved!

Given everything that’s happening at the moment we thought some artistic relief was in order! With our Drawing Club currently on hold (Our lovely teacher Katy is on maternity leave) we’ve decided to take part in Inktober, and you can join us from the comfort of your own home!

Jake Parker created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavour with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.

As it will be a little while before drawing club is up and running again, we really wanted to reach out to you wonderful artists who made it so special and thought this would be a great way to share all the amazing creations you’ve been making.

You can either post photos of your drawings up online and tag us in your pictures (@katyrosedesign and @ventnorexchange) or drop your illustrations into the Ventnor Exchange where we’ll also be making an Inktober wall to display everyone’s work.

Here’s how it works: each day has a different prompt to inspire a new drawing. You can see these listed above.

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
2) Post it*
3) Hashtag it with #inktober , #inktober2020 and #ventnorexchange
4) Repeat

Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. Inktober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.

*Post it on any social media account you want or just post it on your refrigerator. The point is to share your art with someone. If you bring your drawings into the Exchange we’ll display them altogether so you can see other people who are also taking part in the challenge!

Good luck everyone and we can’t wait to see what you all create!
