Next Month the Ventnor Exchange will be hosting Dan Murphy’s brilliant CARRY ON JAYWICK, a verbatim play, made entirely from the words of real people

Jaywick Sands is a seaside village on the Essex coast, once ranked among the most deprived neighbourhoods in the UK. Playwright Dan Murphy interviewed its residents and crafted their responses into this heartwarming and hilarious play. Their recorded voices are piped to the actors through headphones, which they repeat back, in character, to the audience.

Carry on Jaywick travels through Jaywick’s village halls and dance classes, family rows and moments of inspiration, as the residents prepare for their big talent show.

As you can imagine we felt this play had a great deal of relevance to the Isle of Wight, and we’re very greatful to House for their support in bringing this show to the Ventnor Exchange.
