Ventnor Exchange, the Island’s new arts centre and creative hub, has today announced its inaugural season. Created by the team behind the award winning Ventnor Fringe Festival, the Exchange combines an intimate theatre, record store and craft beer bar.

Highlights include Snail Mail, an immersive theatre experience for families commissioned especially for the Ventnor Exchange in which the building will be transformed into a unique world for audiences to explore. Led by two hapless workers with hundreds of years of lost post to sort through, expect some rather unconventional methods in order to return everything to its rightful owner!

Multi award winning poet and storyteller Rachel Rose Reid brings her one-woman show ‘I’m Hans Christian Anderson’ following an extensive tour and rave reviews from The Independent and The Times. She also joins forces with folk artist Robin Grey in ‘Three Acres and a Cow’. Part TED talk, part folk club sing a long the show charts the history of land rights and protest from the Norman Conquests to the present day.

London based puppeteers String Theatre return following their sell out run at the Ventnor Fringe to coincide with the Isle of Arts Festival, as will the Undecided Art Collective with a their follow up exhibition to Februarys hugely successful ‘Undecided on Love’ show.

Other events announced today include a wide array of free talks and debates, a monthly spoken word night and the re-launch of the Young Creative’s programme, which offers a wide range of opportunities for 11 – 19 year olds as part of the Isle of Wight’s new Youth Offer. Inspired by The Roundhouse in Camden, the Exchange’s Young Creative’s scheme gives young people a chance to work with professional artists as well as experience special trips and events.
